Akbar has overall business control and leads with a hands-on approach to our projects. Akbar lives in Cardiff and joined Henstaff from Kvaerner Construction in July 1998 as Construction Director. He has a Degree in Civil engineering and an MSc in Construction Management from the University of Glamorgan. As Wales CIOB Building Manager of the Year 1997 he was responsible for the refurbishment and extension of the listed Old Guildhall in Swansea for the Festival of Literature, latterly the Dylan Thomas centre. His last project for Kvaerner was as site-based Contracts Manager overseeing construction of the concrete frame of the Celtic Manor Hotel. In 2019 Akbar obtained a post graduate Certificate (CMI Level 7) in Strategic Sustainable Leadership and Management from Cardiff Metropolitan University, he has a proactive approach to communication and innovation and will take overall responsibility for all projects.
